I grew up in a household where I was lucky enough to have a chef right under our roof. My father had an intense passion for cooking when I was younger and every night there would be an amazing meal on my plate. What was unique about these dinners, was that since he hailed from Austria, most of the meals he made for my step-mom and me came from Europe influenced recipes as well. Of everything he has ever cooked for me though, my favorite still remains Wiener Schnitzel. It's unfortunate that it's made from veal, but that fact aside, I can never get past how delicious this plate is. It's preparation is simple enough, but vaguely messy, involving eggs, bread crumbs, flour, and a large pan of sizzling butter to fry the pieces of meat in. If you wish to try it out for yourself, I suggest following this recipe, but keep in mind that while it suggests lemon as a mere decoration, you can also drizzle the lemon juice over the finished product, leaving it with a sweet zing. I actually prefer mine that way with the lemon. Be forewarned though, you really need to have a love for cooking or a want to try this, because while the preparation is simple enough, it does take some time.
